Here is my Web Server...

Photo of the server-- its a mess!

Its a Dual Xeon system with 1 gig ram.  Im using 3ware raid controllers with
2 160 gig drives for root, and 3 200 gig drives for storage.

I'm running gentoo linux, with the latest smp kernel.

Connection to the internet is with dslextreme on a1500/256k ADSL link.

The dsl modem is the small black and silver box just under the red lamp.

I use a home made router with the linux router software to firewall and connect my lan to the internet.

The numbers refer to the parts of my computer setup...

1.     ADSL Modem, the connection to the internet.

2.    Linux router.  This allows me to connect multiple computers to the net as well as firewall the web server. See the above link for info...

Its a 150 mhz Nexgen mobo with 2 ne2000 nic's that I found in the trash.  One nic is connected to the ADSL modem, the other is connected to the hub (4).
3.    LCD display for the router.

4.    3Com 10BT Ethernet Hub.  All of the computers connect to the hub.

5.    The server!  2 x 2600 mhz Xeons, 1024m ram.   I'm using the Apache server software... It runs great!

See what its doing when its not serving webs....   I put out about 4 'work units' a day!

6.    Display for the server.

7.    NT box.  I use this when I need windo$e, but Linux is so much more reliable that I us it for most everything.

8.    NT monitor.

9.    HP Jetdirect print server. This connects the network to my HP4000 (12) and HP 970 color inkjet printers.

10.    Home automation stuff.   Just out of sight is the controller, what you see is a stack of wall wart transformers to power the stuff.

            Seems that everything comes with one of these and soon you run out of sockets :{
I bought a 10 outlet strip for mine.
11.    3 Keyboards, 1 for each computer.

12.    HP4000 printer.

Comments? let me know....
